Bloody turn of events…

Once upon a time news was made by the mundane statements... of the people in power…

Next came the age of political scandals and kickbacks, highlighting the loss of character in the politicians and government officials…

Now all channels and online newspapers are filled with stories of crime, that too most heinous in the eyes of law; murder.

Statistically now India top the number of murders as compared to other countries. Practically, everything from a love triangle gone wrong, greed of property, uncompromising marital differences, one sided love stories, families refusing to accept relationships… all seem to lead to murder.

Each culprit has confidence of dodging the criminal investigator and law, each time. They now plan to get alibis and remove proof of the crime with a stoned heart and unfathomed mind. In 1995, when Sushil Sharma was accused to murder Naina Sahani and try to erase proof by burning her in tandoor, it was branded as inhuman. But now many of the recent murder stories force us to change the perspective of these words.

Indians shown as the family oriented, high valued individuals in patriotic Bollywood movies in 1960’s and 1970’s are at the nadir of relationship mess and crime.

I believe being intolerant and emotional can be lethal. As control and support of the society decrease, the fear for consequences of a crime has decreased. Now each person and family feels alone and trapped in its circumstances and feels solely responsible to resolve it. Obviously, they choose to take the easier option of removing the opposition then facing it.

No wonder why people considering the option of settling abroad...

but priti ... you n me talking won't help it either ... we'll discuss this for the sake of taking break from work and then forget it ... so when we blame India why we forget that we also, very much, are part of it ... who, being potentially capable, do NOTHING!!!

rem RDB dialogue ... "koi desh perfect nahi hota usse perfect banana padta hai... "

taayi ne bola comment de ... aur maine condemn kar diya :p

On a serious note:
somehow I feel the reason lies at unemployment, underutilization of people ... the ambience, environment, air and the whole aura seems to be polluted ... one way could be - create oppurtunities for people to work, get them busy in lives...
now I can say ... IT life is still better than something ... not so good though ...

Religion has one serious plus point : it can literally drive the fear of God into your prospective criminal. The temptation of nirvana coupled with the fear of eternal damnation is a classic carrot-and-stick system. The heirarchy of power in religion is what makes it work. No one can go against one more powerful than him / her. Hence God tells the Saint "This is RIGHT, that is WRONG". The Saint tells the Priest. The Priest tells our frinedly neighbourhood Gulti who then says "Yedukondalavaada Venkataramana Govinda Goooooo-vinda!" and gets on with a crime-free life (after getting married and getting truckloads in dowry - like DUH!) But... I digress.

Democracy's biggest problem is that to be right you just have to get more people to agree with you. And it realy doesnt matter how or why they agree. It sounds stupid doesnt it? You call this murder and say "Off with his head". I find 274 people who are on my side. Presto! It is now called "Collateral Damage".

Whiners will always say, "Oh, but the criminal took the easier option!" the point is... Wouldn't you?

In practical democracy there is no question of anyone or anything being wrong. Everything is just a level of acceptability.

The only form of governance that will succeed is a powerful and enlightened monarchy. A monarchy that says, "I offer you protection if you live by my rules. I promise you a crime-free land. I promise you food, in 30 minutes or less. I promise two scoops of chocolate-chip ice-cream with extra chocolate sauce. Toppings cost extra. I promise, 6 months validity and Rs. 1111 talktime."

So Lets hear it people!
"Saale for King!" - sounds nice!
"Viva Saale" - Grazie!
"Saale Jahaan se Achcha!" - that's right
"Puta Madre" - no not this one!

Seriously, if you want to make a difference to humanity, remove that easier option. Make sure it hurts people more to cheat than to play fair.
Anyone can do armchair philosophy. Get out on to the street. Refuse to travel by autos that drive badly. Refuse stuff that comes wrapped in plastic. Stop using air conditioning in your car. Even better, sell your car.

IBM put it nicely. Stop Talking. Start Doing.

Everyone of us is a culprit towards the current condition of our country. Corruption and fearlessness towards law and society is not because crime can be hid well enough, its because no one seems to have time to find it.

Lets see where we as general people become fearless. If I am caught for a traffic violation, I will not ask for a receipt from the officer, for the matter of fact i would try and bribe the officer. The law enforcer is not the only culprit here. Its me too cause for one I was in no position to defend it and on the other hand i was stupid enough to bribe someone. Bribing for debaucheries or for anything is something we have grown up to and guess what its not just us who have grown up, crimes, bribes, corruption everything has grown up with us. We are a breed of highly unprofessional, uneducated (irrespective of the level of education u've had), cheap thinking bastards ourselves who have never been faithful to either ourselves, our work, our passions, or our country. We are afraid to raise our voice for either ourself or for someone else who is the victim of something wrong. Writing here on the blog wont suffice. System can only be changed if you are a part of it and i think we are bunch of people who are running away from it ourself. For us everything is a NEWS. If we were actually concerned we wont be wasting our time blogging. Blogging is a cosmopolitan way for us to spread more news and concerns . Its the one in the field, raising their voices, getting their asses kicked, bleeding and still having hope for betterment, that matters.

I am not embarrassed of the current situation, I am embarrassed of myself, humiliated and deeply grieved as I am also the one blogging and not doing anything about the stuff, concerned only about myself, my career, making money, and running away, so lets stop pretending who we are, cause what we are is bitter to hear "COWARDS"...
